Mouth cancer screening in Beverley

We actively campaign to improve people’s awareness of mouth cancer and our principal dentist, Gary Rowland, is particularly committed to highlighting the increasing risks of this devastating disease that is diagnosed in 7,800 people in the UK annually and one person dies from it every three hours.

Better awareness and early detection saves lives – early diagnosis improves survival chances from 50 per cent to more than 90 per cent and regular dental examinations ensure you are professionally screened for the signs of mouth cancer,

which include:

  • Ulcers that do not heal within three weeks
  • Red and white patches in the mouth
  • Unusual lumps or swellings in the mouth, neck or jaw
  • Difficulty eating, speaking and swallowing
  • Persistent sore throats or hoarseness
  • Unexplained tooth mobility
We have invested in state-of-the-art technology that helps save lives. The Velscope System detects abnormal tissue, including cancerous and pre-cancerous cells that may not be visible to the naked eye. Private patients receive mouth cancer screening as part of their dental examination.
